State Police in St Lawrence County report giving motorists 316 tickets, 99 of to speeding motorists, during their recent Speed Week, Aug. 6 to 12.
The troopers of Troop B Zone 2 participated in the statewide efforts to enforce speeding violations, to prevent traffic collisions in which speed is a leading contributing factor.
The efforts coincided with the NASCAR race held in Watkins Glen this past weekend.
The campaign, known as the Speed Week, was conducted by troopers in St. Lawrence County with a combination of regular patrols and special details.
In addition to the 99 tickets for speeding, troopers also made seven DWI arrests and four DWAI drugs arrests.
"These efforts ensure that the highways in St Lawrence county are much safer for all users," said the police statement.
