POTSDAM – A house owned by the state at 2 State St. is to be auctioned off at noon Tuesday, Oct. 2.
The auction will be held at the Potsdam Civic Center Community Room, 2 Park St. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. Complete property details including photos, legal and reference documents, and auction requirements can be found at the state Office of General Services web site www.nysstore.com; click on “Surplus Property.”
Open houses will be held from 10 a.m. to noon: Friday, Sept. 7 and Friday, Sept. 21. Additional site inspections can be scheduled by calling (518) 474-2195 or emailing land.management@ogs.ny.gov.
The house is a two-story, single family house of 2,840 square feet with six bedrooms and two bathrooms on a .19 acre village lot. There is also an attached shed in back.
The property is being sold “as-is.” Prospective bidders are encouraged to obtain professional advice prior to the public sale to assure compliance with building codes and any planned use of the property.
Interested bidders will be required to present an initial deposit of $4,500 in the form of certified check or bank check in order to register. Checks should be made payable to the bidder.
A five percent broker’s commission will be paid by the State of New York to a qualified real estate broker who represents the successful bidder at the time of closing. Bidder and broker affidavits must be submitted to OGS by 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28.
