POTSDAM – New York State Health Commissioner Dr. Richard F. Daines took a tour of a few spots in St. Lawrence County today, including the water treatment plant in Potsdam.
He said he came to the water treatment plant in Potsdam “because it is a well run facility. It has a reputation for efficiency.”
Water Treatment Plant Chief Operator Bob Henninger says the plant is “the jewel of the North Country.”
Commissioner Daines has said one of his goals is to visit every county in the state. “After this there are two left,” he said: Lewis, which he will visit tomorrow, and Hamilton County.
Along with him in Potsdam today were Water Treatment Plant Chief Operator Bob Henninger, St. Lawrence County Public Health Department Director Susan J. Hathaway, Ron Sheppard of the state Health Department office in Canton, and soon-to-be village administrator and current Potsdam Village Treasurer David Fenton.
The commissioner was also going to Morristown Central School, Canton Price Chopper, the Eat Well, Play Hard program, and hospitals.
