St. Regis Mohawk Tribe members can vote for new chief, sub-chief and tribal clerk June 1, 3 and 5

AKWESASNE -- Members of the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe can vote for a new chief, sub-chief and tribal clerk on June 1, 3 and 5.

“The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Election Board is unable to release the official list of candidates due to circumstances beyond their control,” the tribe said in a statement.

People can vote at a polling place. Those who are homebound can make arrangements fo in-home voting.

Walk-in votes will be June 1 and 3 from 6 to 9 p.m.

In-home balloting will be June 5.

Absentee ballots will be available once nominees have met all required candidate criteria and the election board certifies them as an official candidate, the tribe said.

To verify voter eligibility, request an absentee ballot or arrange in-home voting, call the tribal clerk’s office at (518)358-2272.
