MADRID -- St. Lawrence Valley Paddlers’ Madrid Canoe Regatta takes place on the Grasse River June 10 and 11.

These two days of paddle races offer something for all boats and paddle enthusiasts, including cash prizes for the pros and raffle prizes for other top finishers..

The Moulton family and volunteers offer pro, amateur, marathon and recreational events with distances of 3,6, 9, 13 or 16 miles.

People are welcome to the riverside park the night before or in the morning, camp with paddlers at the race site and be part of the community that meets every year for the races. And people may stay Saturday night for the spaghetti feed at the Community Center at the park.

The Pro class sprint, the Madrid Mile, starts the weekend’s races.

The events are:

Saturday, June 10

• 10:30 a.m., Madrid Mile C-1 Pro Sprint on a measured loop above the dam

• 11:30, C-1 Pro Race, 9 miles with one 1/4 mile portage; and the 9-mile Amateur Marathon for C-1, K-1, K-2, C-2 & C-4 craft, NYMCRA Canoe and Kayak Points awarded

• 11:45, Recreation Race, 3 miles, around the island and back, for Solo Canoe M, W; Kayak M, W; Tandem Canoe, M, W, Mx, Ad/Y, Ad/Jr, Jr, Unlimited, War Canoe & C-4

Sunday, June 11

• 10 a.m., C-2 Pro race, 16 miles with one portage of 1/4 mile; Amateur Marathon, C-1, K-1 & C-2 , 13 miles with one 1/4 mile portage

• 10:30, Recreation Race, 6 miles for Solo Canoe M, W; Kayak M, W; Tandem Canoe, M, W, Mx, Ad/Y, Ad/Jr, Jr , Unlimited.
