CANTON -- St. Lawrence Valley Paddlers held their third duathlon of the season last week at Little River boat launch in Canton.

A time of 27:08 put up by the team of Johnny Newman in canoe and Jeff Lyndaker running. They edged out the second place team of Will Glass and Allen Kelly.

On a night when the event featured many family teams, first place in the solo women was Mary Kelly followed by Sue Dodds.

Next on the St. Lawrence Valley Paddlers’ schedule is the Remington II Canoe and Kayak race Saturday, Aug. 31 starting in Rensselaer Falls with a six-mile downstream paddle on the Oswegatchie River to the finish above the dam in Heuvelton. Registration is at 9 a.m. and the race starts at 10. There will be recreational and competitive classes with awards three deep in each class.
