POTSDAM -- Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley was recently named a 2013 Hospice Honors recipient.
The award recognizing hospice agencies that provide the best patient care, as rated by the patient’s caregiver.
Established by Deyta, a Kentucky-based organization that specializes in healthcare satisfaction and quality measurement, the award recognizes the top 100 agencies with highest level of satisfaction, as measured from the caregiver’s point of view.
Deyta used Family Evaluation of Hospice Care survey results from over 1,200 partnering hospice agencies to determine award winners.
“Hospice Honors defines a new standard of excellence in the patient/family experience for hospice agencies,” said Liz Silva of Deyta.
“Identifying these top-performing hospices is our way of recognizing organizations that have demonstrated high quality of care to both patients and caregivers. That positive family experience is a key driver of ongoing patient-focused care and overall agency success,” Silva said.
Brian Gardam, executive director of Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley, credits the award to the hospice’s workers and a vigorous quality improvement program. “Our most important measures of how well we are doing are the grades we receive from the patients and families we serve. This award comes from responding to what families have told us is important to them,” Gardam said.
