CANTON -- St. Lawrence University President William L. Fox has been appointed to The Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities (CICU) Board of Trustees.
The statewide association for more than 100 private higher education institutions, the board includes more than 20 presidents of private colleges and universities in New York.
“President Fox is the right person to join the CICU board and to enhance our efforts,” said Laura L. Anglin, president of CICU. “His commitment to higher education is immeasurable.”
On July 1, 2009, Fox became the 18th president and a senior lecturer in history at St. Lawrence University, his undergraduate alma mater, after working as president and senior lecturer in philosophy, religion and history at Culver-Stockton College from 2003 to 2009. A native of Washington, D.C., he received a master of divinity degree from Harvard University in 1978 and a Ph.D. in American religious history from George Washington University in 1989.
“I am very pleased to be named a member of the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities’ board of trustees,” Fox said. “Given that it represents over 100 institutions, it is one of the nation’s premier state associations.”
