OGDENSBURG -- A present-day thriller about buried treasure in the St. Lawrence River near Ogdensburg was the 2014 best-seller by a book publisher and distributor that specializes in North Country titles.

Cranberry Lake resident and author Matt Glavin says his publisher, North Country Books, has told him his latest book, Adirondack Treasure -- Isle Royale, was the best seller and his previous book, Adirondack Treasure – The Bonaparte Legacy, published three years ago, was the company’s fourth-best seller for 2014. In their adult fiction category, the Adirondack Treasure books were number one and two, Glavin said.

Adirondack Treasure -- Isle Royale, co-written by Glavin and Michael J. Dolan, was released in March and is a present-day thriller featuring a legendary treasure buried on an island in the St. Lawrence River during the French and Indian War.

The island, three miles downstream from Ogdensburg and known today as Chimney Island, was the site of a French fort (Fort Lévis) and was the location of the final battle of the war on what was to become American soil.

The story also features Middle Eastern terrorists working with North Korea and planning on releasing a missile with a super-EMP (electromagnetic pulse) warhead from a ship in the St. Lawrence River. The treasure hunters become entangled in the terrorists’ plot and the result is an edge-of-your-seat thriller.

The first book in the series, Adirondack Treasure – The Bonaparte Legacy, was released three years ago and quickly became a regional best seller, according to Igoe. One reviewer called it, “The North Country’s own Da Vinci Code.”

Readers can follow the writing of the third book in the series, Adirondack Treasure – The Noble Hermit, at Adirondack Treasure Books on Facebook.

Both books are available from Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble.com, Kinney Drugs and other local booksellers.
