FINE -- St. Lawrence NYSARC recently received 20 sets of snowshoes and poles donated from the Health Initiative’s Creative Healthy Places St. Lawrence County Project.
The new acquisition was used at St. Lawrence NYSARC’s Dodge Pond during the Winter Fest vacation.
Participants used the snowshoes to walk trails on the more than 300 acres of land available on the site.
Guests also participated in a variety of outdoor activities including skiing, sledding, broomball and more.
The biggest event of the weekend included a fishing tournament
The project is funded by the New York State Department of Health.
Dodge Pond offers several vacation opportunities for people with disabilities. Staff is currently making plans for escape packages specially designed for individuals who enjoy fun and relaxation in a rustic setting.
