St. Lawrence NYSARC elects officers and makes awards at annual dinner

POTSDAM – At its annual dinner meeting recently, St. Lawrence NYSARC elected officers and honored staff members, volunteers and participants.

The officers elected for the St. Lawrence NYSARC Board of Directors are President Patricia Campanella, First Vice President Jackie Sauter, Second Vice President Anne Townsend, Treasurer Clyde Butz, and Secretary Phyllis Shimmel.

Staff members, program participants, volunteers, and employees were recognized for their achievements during the past year.

Jay Pecora of SUNY Potsdam’s Drama Department was honored with the agency’s 2012 Community Spirit Award. Pecora was chosen in appreciation of his work in the partnership between SUNY Potsdam and the Community Arts Program, and his innovative methods of integrating people with disabilities in the community.

The St. Lawrence NYSARC Staff Member of the Year is Beth Clary, Assistant Practitioner II, based in Canton, chosen for her dedication, quality work ethic, and kindness.

Billy Peets received the Seaway Industries Employee of the Year Award. He works for the agency’s Seaway Industries located in Massena. Peets was recognized for his positive attitude, tireless work ethic, and long-standing commitment as an employee.

As an agency first, Daphne Pickert, St. Lawrence NYSARC’s CEO/Executive Director, was honored for her 35 years of dedicated service.
