CANTON — The St. Lawrence Masonic Charities recently made a donation to the United Methodist Church to be used for repairs to their church steeple.
George Caswell, secretary of St. Lawrence Masonic Charities, presented a check for $1,000 to Mike Dafoe, chairman of the Steeple for the People committee whose goal is to raise funds for the repairs.
The church was built in 1897, and for the first time in 115 years the church needs to make structural repairs to the church in order to save the steeple.
