The St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES Special Education life skills class from OFA and Northwest Technical Center recently hosted their seventh prom. The Ogdensburg City School District and the OFA junior prom committee assisted.

Sixty-nine students from OFA, Harrisville, Potsdam, Gouverneur, Canton and Edwards-Knox attended. They came from classes led by Sue Waters, Sue Hart, Dave Smith, Dawn Gregory, Katlyn Hirschey, Michele Mills, Heather Anderson, Velma Gushe and Steve Kroeger. Students and staff danced to music from James Gushea DJ Services. Family members and friends also stopped by throughout the event to take pictures and join in.

In the past, two seniors were selected to be the king and queen of the prom. This year, all of the seniors in attendance were selected to be a part of the court. The 2014 Prom king and queen were Curt Walters from Potsdam and Esther Savage from Gouverneur.

Students were dressed up with help from the community, school staff and their parents. They thoroughly enjoyed getting ready for the dance, dressing in gowns, tuxedos, and suits, and having their hair and makeup done. Colleen Jones hemmed dresses and trousers.

The OFA Prom Committee for keeping the prom decorations up a few days longer from their junior and senior proms. Steve Putman's Northwest Tech culinary arts students made cookies for the event.
