For the fourth consecutive month of 2015, St. Lawrence County gained non-farm jobs over the same month a year ago.
In July, there were 39,700 non-farm jobs, compared to 39,400 in July 2014, representing a .8 percent increase, according to the state Department of Labor.
To our east in Franklin County, non-farm jobs dropped by 1.1 percent to 18,600 last month from 18,800 in July last year, the DOL said.
To our west in Jefferson County, non-farm jobs went down .5 percent to 43,900 from 44,100, according to the DOL.
In June, St. Lawrence County gained 400 non-farm jobs compared to June 2014. They say there were 40,800 non-farm jobs in June and 40,400 in June 2014. That’s a 1 percent increase.
St. Lawrence County gained about 500 non-farm jobs in May compared to May 2014, according to the state Department of Labor.
The DOL says there were 42,700 non-farm jobs last month and 42,200 in May last year.
That represents a 1.2 percent hike, according to the report.
In April, the DOL reported 100 more farm jobs than a year ago, evening out the 100 fewer they reported in March.
