St. Lawrence County’s generation of sales tax revenue in 2018 is up 4.1 percent from the 2017 figures, according to a report from State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli’s office Monday.
That is lower than our closest neighbors, Franklin County with a 7.31 percent rise, and Jefferson County, whose receipts rose by 4.76 percent.
The sales tax in St. Lawrence County increased $2,364,832 from $56,670,890 in 2017 to $59,035,722 in 2018, the comptroller reports.
That money is distributed among the county and its municipalities.
The comptroller’s report said a large percentage of the sales taxes come through motor fuel sales.
Statewide, the increase was 5.3 percent, totaling $17.5 billion in 2018.
