Trout and salmon fishing season kicks off April 1 and the state Department of Environmental Conservation will stock 17 bodies of water in St. Lawrence County with three species of trout.
Brook trout will be released in Bog River, Piercefield; Cranberry Lake, Clifton; Little River, Fine; Oswegatchie River, Clifton and in Fine.
Brown trout will be stocked in the Grasse River, Russell, and the south branch in Clare; Hopkinton Brook, Hopkinton; Little River in Canton, Russell and Fine; two locations on the Oswegatchie River in Clifton; the Parishville Reservoir; two locations on Plum Brook in Russell; three locations on the St. Regis River in Lawrence and two in Hopkinton; Sucker Lake, Fine; Trout Brook, Stockholm; Van Rensselaer, Pierrepont; and the St. Regis River west branch in Parishville and Stockholm.
Rainbow trout will be stocked at Lake Ozonia, Hopkinton; Star Lake, Fine; Sylvia Lake, Fowler; and Trout Lake, Edwards.
