The St. Lawrence County Trappers Association each year sponsors local teens to attend state Department of Environmental Conservation summer camps, as they will next summer.
DEC’s summer camp program continues its long tradition of providing quality, week-long adventures in conservation education for state residents ages 11 to 17.
DEC operates three residential camps for kids 11 to 13 and one, with a more advanced program of environmental study, for 14- to 17-year olds.
Campers will be guided through a week of activities in fields, forests, streams and ponds, uncovering the connections in the natural world while observing wildlife, debating environmental issues, examining streams for microscopic life, exploring the night sky, and making new friends from across the state. And there will be plenty of time for recreation.
Anyone who would like to be sponsored by the St. Lawrence County Trappers Association for a place at the 2017 camps can contact Jim Aubrey ay 389-5096 by Jan. 10. A letter explaining why the applicant is interested should be received by SLCTA, PO Box 148, Canton, NY, 13617, also by Jan. 10.
