Teens HELP staff members Zach Clark, left, and Kelly Johnson-Eilola, right, recently met Dr. Ruth, center, at a sex education conference in New Jersey.
POTSDAM -- Teens HELP, which serves youth in St. Lawrence County, sent two members to the National Sex Ed Conference in New Jersey recently and met with well-known sex therapist, media personality and author Dr. Ruth Westheimer.
“The 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. schedule and travel can be grueling but the opportunity to share successful ideas with others while we create new opportunities at home keeps our programs alive,” a statement from Teens HELP said.
This year both Zach Clark and Kelly Johnson-Eilola attended.
Clark said the highlight of his trip "had to be meeting Dr. Ruth Westheimer, but certainly the opportunity to be around and converse with people who have been in this field longer then I have been alive was a great experience that I attempted to take full advantage of."
Johnson-Eilola expressed that she enjoys meeting new people and gathering new data and programs, but says the best part is reconnecting with colleagues doing similar work in other states and countries.
