CANTON -- The St. Lawrence County Soil and Water Conservation District will accept orders for the 2013 tree seedling and shrub program until Friday, Apr. 5.
Small one to three year old bare root seedlings of many types will be available. Prices are between 90 cents and $8.50 depending on the species. A minimum of 10 plants per species must be ordered unless otherwise specified. Some species may be purchased in bulk for a lower price.
Pines, spruces, firs, cedar, paper birch, sugar maple, red maple, black cherry, bur oak, black walnut and hybrid poplar will be available.
Several trees and shrubs such as crabapple, wild plum, wild apple, purple lilac, blueberry, cranberry, raspberry, flowering dogwood, Nanking cherry, rugosa rose, pussy willow, winterberry, elderberry and wild grape will be available.
Daylilies and wildflower seeds will also be available, along with supplies such as fertilizer tablets, tree plantation signs, tree protectors and stakes.
The Tree pick-up date will be National Arbor Day, Apr. 26.
