The St. Lawrence County Soil and Water Conservation District is accepting orders for its 2013 tree seedling and shrub program until Friday, April 5.

Area landowners have an opportunity to purchase one- to three-year-old bare root seedlings for reforestation, windbreaks, soil erosion control, and wildlife habitat improvement.

Prices start at 90¢ and go up to $8.50 each depending on the species. Minimum order is 10 of one species unless otherwise stated; you can order by the thousands. Evergreen prices decrease with quantity.

There are over 30 species available this year including many types of evergreens, hardwoods, fruit trees, nut trees, and ground covers. Also available are species for songbirds or butterflies, and many other types of planting supplies.

Proceeds of the sale benefit conservation projects in the county.

Tree delivery date is expected to be April 26. For an order form or more information, contact the Soil and Water Conservation District office at 1942 Old DeKalb Road, Canton, NY 13617 or call 386-3582.
