CANTON -- The St. Lawrence County Planning Office wants public input on an assessment survey that will help determine the need for housing grants and potential increase grant funding for projects.
For the past 30 years, the St. Lawrence County Planning Office has brought in over $30 million in housing and community development assistance to the county. The Direct Homeownership Assistance Program has secured over $12 million to help over 500 residents purchase homes. The Planning Office has also secured over $8.5 million in funds for over 600 housing rehabilitation projects in numerous towns and villages throughout the county.
The Planning Office would like to continue helping those in need. New grants guidelines require a county-wide Housing Needs Assessment to determine the housing stock of St. Lawrence County. The purpose of the survey is to aid the Planning Office in collecting this information so that it can continue to deliver funds used to aid in home improvement.
Those interested in taking the anonymous and confidential survey can do so by visiting the St. Lawrence County webpage at: http://www.co.st-lawrence.ny.us/ . The survey is expected to take five or fewer minutes and can be completed on a desktop, tablet, or mobile device. It will close Friday, July 29, 2016.
Any questions or concerns about the survey can be directed to the Planning Office at 379 – 2292.
