School districts throughout St. Lawrence County are putting their school budgets and propositions before voters Tuesday, May 21.
General qualifications for voters include U.S. citizenship, age 18 or older, and a resident of the school district for at least 30 days before the election.
Here are details on budget votes, other propositions and school board candidates for each of the 18 districts in the St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES district:
Brasher Falls
Brasher Falls Central School District voters will be asked to approve a $24.6 million budget, 2.43% increase, and authorize purchase of three 65-passenger school busses.
Running for three school board are Teresa “Terr” Rios-Passon, Katherine “Katy” Brown and Julie Cavel-Liberty.
Voting in the middle school gym is from noon to 8 p.m.
Canton
Canton Central School’s $31.7 million budget represents a 2.55% increase. Voters will also be asked to approve school bus purchases not to exceed $530,000.
School board candidates for four seats include Steven P. Sanderson, Keith Rosser, Andrew Moses and Eileen B. Raymond.
Voting takes place from noon to 8 p.m. in the high school Learning Resource Center.
Clifton-Fine
Clifton-Fine Central School voters will be asked to approve a $10.9 million budget, 1.11% more than this year. Voters will also be asked to approve spending $279,000 for multiple equipment lines and $100,000 for a capital outlay project.
Roger Benjamin and Bob Lachut are the only candidates on the ballot for three open school board seats.
Voting will be from noon to 8 p.m. in the Miranda Auditorium.
Edwards-Knox
At Edwards-Knox Central, the proposed budget is $16.1 million, a 2.79% increase. Voters will also be asked to approve the purchase of two school buses not to exceed $240,000.
Running for two school board seats are Todd Wells and Stacia Kroniser.
Voting will take place from noon tot 8 p.m. in the gym.
Heuvelton
At Heuvelton Central, voters will go to the polls from 1 to 8 p.m. to vote on a $14.4 million budget, a 1.3% increase. Voters will also be asked to establish a capital reserve fund.
Running for two school board seats are Karen Clary, Michael Davis and Nick Montroy.
Colton-Pierrepont
Colton-Pierrepont Central’s $10.8 million budget will be voted on between noon to 8 p.m. in the school auditorium lobby.
Michael Dumas, Sarah H. Hartmans, Clinton Perrigo, Elmer Phillips and Chad VanBrocklin are running for three school board seats.
Voters will also decide on whether or not the district will purchase a bus for $115,000 with funds currently held in the Colton-Pieerepont Central School District’s Capital Reserve Fund.
Gouverneur
The Gouverneur Central proposed budget is $36.8 million, a .31% increase. Voters will also be asked to approve spending $1.03 million from the capital reserve fund for capital improvements approved in 2015.
Running for 3 seats on the board of education are Lisa McGregor, Sue D. Newvine and William U. Cartwright.
Hammond
At Hammond Central, voters will go to the polls in the cafeteria from 1:30 to 8 p.m. to vote on an $8.37 million budget, a 1.08% increase.
Running for two five-year school board seats are Donald Ceresoli Jr. and Douglas Delosh. Charles Clemons Jr. is running for the remaining three years of a vacant seat.
Harrisville
Harrisville Central School District voters will go to the polls between 1 and 8 p.m. to vote on an $11.05 million budget, which is 2.81% increase. Voters will also be asked to approve purchase of two school buses at $220,000.
Jan Mosher, Tennille Schmitt and Kathy Felio are running for two school board seats.
Hermon-DeKalb
At Hermon-DeKalb Central School, the proposed $11.34 million budget is a 5.78% increase compared to this year. Voters will also be asked to authorize purchase of a bus not to exceed $250,000.
Running for two school board seats are Richard Hamilton and Ronald Smith.
Voting takes place from 1 to 8 p.m. in the main entrance foyer area.
Lisbon
At Lisbon Central School, voters will be asked to approve a $14.5 million budget, representing a 2.8% increase.
Also on the ballot are measures for an $8.3 million renovation project and a $1.7 million two-story community fitness center.
Running for four school board seats are Jennifer Gray, Nancy Addison, Angela McLear, Nicole LaPage, James (Larry) Doyle, John McBath and Becky Buckingham.
Voting will take place from 1 to 9 p.m. in the school lobby.
Massena
Massena Central School voters will be asked to approve a $54.94 million budget, a .91 increase. Voters will also be asked to approve creation of a $4 million capital reserve fund.
Kevin Perretta, Jodele Hammock and Paul Haggett are running for two school board seats.
Voting is noon to 8 p.m. at the Community Center, 61 Beach St.
Madrid-Waddington
Madrid-Waddington Central School voters will be asked to approve a $17.3 million budget, a 2.76% increase.
Voters will also be asked for approval to purchase of a 72-passenger bus, a mini-bus and a pickup truck. Another proposition is for a capital outlay project to install safety fencing on the softball field and continue with classroom window replacements, at a cost not to exceed $100,000, which is 90% state reimbursable.
Tina Bush, Bruce Durant and Richard Hobkirk are running for three school board seats.
Voting is 1 to 9 p.m. in the school lobby.
Morristown
Voters in the Morristown Central School District will go to the polls from noon to 8 p.m. in the main lobby. They will be asked to approve an $11.6 million budget, 6.8% more than this year.
Darrell Merkel and Dr. Lawrence Kring III are the only candidates running for three school board seats.
Parishville-Hopkinton
In the Parishville-Hopkinton Central School District, voters will be asked to approve an $11.6 million budget, a .95% increase and school bus purchases not to exceed $210,000. Voters will also be asked to authorize creation of a capital reserve fund not to exceed $1.5 million.
Running for two school board seats are Jennifer Hernandez, Joseph McGill, Michael Tremper, Janine Sullivan, Kyle Tyo and Geri Lynn Wilson.
Voting will take place from 1 to 8 p.m. in the school auditorium.
Norwood-Norfolk
In the Norwood-Norfolk Central School District, voters will be asked to approve a $24.2 million budget, a 2.53% increase. Voters will also be asked to approve the purchase of four school buses for no more than $350,000.
Suzanne Fiacco and Mary Ellen Todd are the only candidates on the ballots for four open school board seats.
Voting will take place from 12:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the district board room.
Ogdensburg
Ogdensburg school district voters will cast their ballots at the Edgar A. Newell, II Golden Dome at Ogdensburg Free Academy on a $45 million spending plan for the 2019-20 school year, a .44% decrease. Voting is from noon to 9 p.m.
Candidates vying for two seats on the school board include Ronald Johnson, James King and Michael Myers.
The ballot will also include an Ogdensburg Public Library referendum for an additional $75,000 in appropriated annual funds to be decided by voters.
Potsdam
In the Potsdam Central School District, voters will be asked to approve a $34.27 million budget, a 2.56% increase.
Running for three school board seats are Deborah Shipp, Tarik Ait Maatallah, Rachel Wallace, Stacey Green, Kristie Phippen and Ralph Fuller.
Voting takes place from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
