Emery Webb of Edwards, left, received the prestigious Betsy Kaplan Award from the St. Lawrence County Republican Committee recently at their annual dinner at the Freight House Restaurant in Ogdenbsurg. With him is county GOP Committee Chair Thomas Jenison of Canton. The award is named for late GOP Chair Betsy Kaplan of Potsdam.

OGDENSBURG -- The St Lawrence County Republican Committee heard from all three state senators that represent the county at its annual "Meet & Greet" at The Freight House Restaurant recently.

They also heard from Republican coroner candidates June H Wood, Hopkinton, and Kevin J Crosby, Morristown. County Republican "Both of our candidates are well qualified for the Coroner positions. June Wood is seeking her fourth term as county coroner, and Kevin Crosby has a tremendous amount of experience as a 22-year veteran -- 17 years as chief -- of the Morristown Fire Department, an emergency medical technician and Superintendent of Public Works for the Village of Morristown," Committee Chairman Thomas L Jenison said.

Unable to attend due to prior commitments, prepared statements were read from Republican NYS Supreme Court candidates Judge John Nolan and Judge Stan Pritzker, as well as Republican District Attorney candidate Mary Rain and County Legislative candidate William "Bill" Fobare.

"Mary Rain has been campaigning tirelessly throughout St Lawrence County. Many voters have told her it's time for change in the District Attorney's Office," Jenison said.

Senators Patty Ritchie, Joe Griffo and Betty Little spoke at the well-attended event.

"Mary Rain will work hard for the citizens of St Lawrence County. Her law enforcement and courtroom experiences will provide her with the tools necessary to successfully prosecute criminals," added Ritchie.

The coveted Betsy Kaplan Award was presented to Emery Webb of Edwards.

"A gift to chairmen, dedicated to Republican candidates and the Republican Party, Emery has served on the Edwards Town Board; in the Edwards Fire Department / Rescue Squad; is Director / Member, of the St Lawrence County Fire / Police; and, as a member of the St Lawrence County Republican Committee, he currently serves on its Executive Committee, as a 4th JD Delegate and State GOP Delegate representing the 117th AD," Executive Committee, ChloeAnn O'Neil said.

In his closing remarks, Chairman Jenison urged voters to hit the polls Nov. 5.
