CANTON -- St. Lawrence County recovered $9,894 from social services fraud settlements in November, according to Ed Tischler, and investigator with the district attorney’s office.
In addition to the settlements, the county disqualified 11 people from receiving more benefits.
Investigations focused on welfare fraud, offering a false instrument for filing, unlawful use of a benefit card, forgery and other state law violations, Tischler said in a prepared statement.
Programs affected include SNAP (food stamps), Temporary Assistance, Day Care, Medicaid and HEAP, Tischler’s statement says.
