MASSENA -- The public is invited to hear and discuss the revitalization plan for the former General Motors site in Massena Nov. 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hawkins Point Visitors Center.
The forum will include an update on the revitalization plan process and an overview of the proposed redevelopment strategy, opportunities to provide input into the redevelopment strategy and presentation of case studies showing how a number of industrial communities have successfully adapted to changing economic conditions, according to the Planning Office.
St. Lawrence County, working with the Town of Massena and other local stakeholders, was awarded a Brownfield Opportunity Area (BOA) grant from the New York State Department of State to develop a Revitalization Plan for the former GM site.
The Project Steering Committee includes representatives of St. Lawrence County, the Town of Massena, the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe, the Business Development Corporation for a Greater Massena, the St. Lawrence County IDA and RACER Trust.
