CANTON -- St. Lawrence County’s operations committee has voted to abolish and create three positions that will better suit the county’s needs.
The decision stemmed from a combination of a resignation and a promotion. The committee decided to modify the positions, which they felt would better suit the county’s needs.
In the Office For the Aging, the county will eliminate a grade 17 account clerk typist position at a salary of $34,623 and create a grade 15 keyboard specialist position at a salary of $27,446.
“Based on a review of the duties and responsibilities, it has been recommended that an account clerk-typist be promoted to perform the higher level tasks of the senior account clerk,” the resolution says.
The committee agreed that a keyboard specialist would also meet the needs of the department.
A grade 15 senior advocate for the elderly position at a pay rate of $30,180 annually will be replaced by a grade 21 senior advocated for the elderly position at a rate of $37,319.
In the emergency services department, the committee agreed to eliminate a senior dispatch position due to a recent resignation.
The operations committee also agreed to abolish a grade 23 senior dispatcher with a $43,528 salary and replace it with a grade 18 dispatcher for emergency services at a rate of $32,244 per year.
