CANTON – A former Massena police officer has been named St. Lawrence County Emergency Services Director.
Michael LeCuyer was named to the position in a 14-0 vote Thursday following a brief executive session.
LeCuyer serves as town justice in Louisville and is the Emergency Preparedness Coordinator at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
LeCuyer will fill a vacancy left by Joseph Gilbert who plans to challenge Rep. Bill Owens in the 2014 elections.
Director of St. Lawrence County Planning Keith Zimmerman had been serving as the interim Emergency Services Director since Gilbert’s departure.
Although LeCuyer was approved for the position his salary has not been negotiated.
