St. Lawrence County residents should expect hazardous driving conditions as temperatures plummet quickly, creating flash-freeze conditions on roads and sidewalks, according to the National Weather Service.

An early wind advisory that brought gusts as high as 50 mph was lifted at 4 p.m. Warm temperatures earlier brought a much-needed thaw to the county, but also caused flooding throughout parts of the North Country.

The wet conditions are expected to refreeze this evening and tonight as temperatures drop to around 1 degree above freezing.

Wind chills are estimated to hit minus 20 degrees.

The cold will stick around until Thursday when temperatures could reach around 30 degrees.
