St. Lawrence County lost jobs in June while New York state overall gained, according to the state Department of Labor.
In June, St. Lawrence County had 38,100 people in non-farm obs, down from 38,300 in June 2016, and down from 38,800 in May this year.
To our east in Franklin County, there were 19,000 non-farm jobs last month, the same number that was tallied by the Department of Labor in June 2016.
To our west in Jefferson County, the number went to 44,800 non-farm jobs last month, up from 44,100 the same month last year, a 1.6 percent gain, DOL said.
Meanwhile, New York state overall gained 164,800 jobs in June, which is a 1.6 percent increase, DOL said.
