St. Lawrence County lost 100 non-farm jobs in April compared to one year ago, according to preliminary figures the Department of Labor released Thursday.
DOL says there were 38,700 non-farm jobs last month and 38,800 the same month last year. That’s a .3 percent decrease, DOL said.
To our east in Franklin County, that number was flat. They had 18,700 non-farm jobs last month and in April 2016, DOL said.
To our west in Jefferson County, the number increased to 41,800 jobs last month from 41,700 in April 2016. That’s a .2 percent increase, DOL said.
All of the local numbers lag behind the state total. DOL said New York state gained 76,800 non-farm jobs last month, a .8 percent increase. The agency reports about 9,467,700 last month and 9,309,900 in April 2016.
