MASSENA -- St. Lawrence County legislators officially recognized Massena Central School’s varsity hockey team for their record season and state championship victory.
At a Monday meeting the council passed a resolution honoring the team for “excellence and outstanding achievements.”
Members of the hockey team were present at the meeting, and were also recognized by St. Lawrence County Maple Queen Megan Parkman, New York State Maple Queen Kylea McAdam and St. Lawrence County Maple Princess Sarah Rastley.
The girls presented the players with gifts of maple cupcakes and other treats in recognition of their accomplishment.
Legislators also recognized coaches Michael Trimboli and Kenneth Hurlbut.
According to the resolution, the Massena Boy’s Hockey Team is also a New York State Scholar Athlete Team award winner. Legislators say the team has a combined grade point average of 94.63.
“It is with great pride that the board of legislators recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of the Massena Red Raiders Varsity Hockey Team and their coaches on their impressive and successful championship season,” the resolution says.
