CANTON -- The county legislature is pursuing a grant of up to $27,000 to help pay for a multi-use recreational trail system.
Lawmakers unanimously approved a resolution on Monday authorizing the superintendent of highways to apply for the funds from the St. Lawrence River Valley Redevelopment Agency’s Community Development and Environmental Improvement Fund.
The grant will pay up to 90 percent of the cost, up to $27,000, with the county having to pay the remainder. At least half of the local share must be new cash, according to the resolution.
