CANTON -- St. Lawrence County’s operations committee has voted to fill two vacant corrections officer positions at the St. Lawrence County jail.
The committee voted Monday two fill two entry-level corrections officer positions with starting salaries of $41,175.
The positions were vacated on Aug. 27 and Sept. 4. The resolution did not state whether the vacancies stemmed from retirement, termination or resignation.
According to the resolution, it was determined by the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department that the positions would need to be filled in order to establish the minimum staffing levels for fulltime staff at the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office Correctional Division.
In 2008 St. Lawrence County implemented a non-essential services hiring freeze, which requires department to get approval before filling vacant positions.
