POTSDAM — As part of the Conversations with Candidates series that North Country Matters does each fall, they recently brought the two St. Lawrence County Board of Legislator candidates for District 11 into the studio to discuss some of the issues in the campaign. District 11 takes in small parts of the Village and Town of Potsdam and the Town of Stockholm and is one of nine contested elections for the 15-member Board this year.

Conversations with Candidates are designed to provide voter education that thoughtfully and civilly discusses issues of public policy and governance vital to our community. These non-partisan Conversations invite a candidate to explain his or her positions, records, and ideas outside of the 30-second campaign ad and the discussion constrains of the debate format.

The 11th District candidates talk about their legislative priorities, local taxes, county government and infrastructure, social services needs, and their visions for the county.

Chad Colbert is the incumbent running to retain his seat on the SLC Board. The YouTube link for this show, recorded on Oct. 11, is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SH--V2zqMM.

Nance Arquiett is the challenger running for the District 11 seat. The YouTube link for this show, recorded on Oct. 25, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pchk5u4EJYU.
