CANTON — St. Lawrence County Legislators have proclaimed August as National Immunization Awareness Month.
Officials adopted a resolution during a full board meeting on Aug. 1 to highlight the importance of vaccinations for people of all ages.
“Providing children the vaccines recommended by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention before their second birthday is the best way to protect against fourteen (14) serious and potentially deadly diseases,” the resolution read.
The resolution continued on, saying vaccines are recommended for individuals based on age, health conditions, jobs, lifestyle or travel habits.
“Some childhood vaccines can wear off over time making it necessary for adults to keep vaccination up-to-date to help protect themselves and others,” the resolution read.
Officials said vaccinations are one of the most convenient and safest preventive care measures available.
