CANTON – The St. Lawrence County Historical Association has been awarded a grant of $11,700 for general operating support from the New York State Council on the Arts for 2011.
According to Trent Trulock, SLCHA Executive Director, "We are very happy to receive this grant, which helps to support programs such as our Second Saturday Children's program, Brown Bag Lunch series and North Country Civil War Round Table. We are especially grateful to have been awarded this grant during these very difficult economic times."
The funding awarded for 2011 is 17 percent less than the $14,000 the St. Lawrence County Historical Association received from the New York State Council on the Arts for 2010. This reduction is due to New York State's budget woes.
The St. Lawrence County Historical Association is located at 3 E. Main St., Canton.
