St. Lawrence County’s high school artists will have a chance to display their work at the U.S. Capitol for a year.
Rep. Bill Owens said his office is currently accepting submissions from high school students in New York’s 21st Congressional District for the annual Congressional Art Competition.
The district encompasses St. Lawrence County.
Owens said the competition is a chance for young artists to shine.
“I am proud to offer young artists an opportunity to have their work displayed at the U.S. Capitol,” Owens said. “Our region is blessed with great schools and talented young people, and I look forward to seeing what they have to offer this year.”
For entry into the art competition, students should submit a digital copy and a completed Student Information and Release Form to NY21art@mail.house.gov.
This form can be found at http://house.gov/content/educate/art_competition/pdf/student-information-release-form.pdf or by requesting a copy from Congressman Owens’ office. A full description of contest guidelines can be found at http://house.gov/content/educate/art_competition/pdf/art-competition-guidelines-students.pdf.
The winner of the competition will send his or her submission to Washington, D.C. to be displayed for one year as part of the national student art exhibition in the U.S. Capitol.
All submissions must be received by Owens’ office no later than Tuesday, April 23.
For more information, interested students should contact Congressman Owens’ office or visit http://www.house.gov/content/educate/art_competition.
