POTSDAM -- The St. Lawrence County Health Initiative’s Bridge to Wellness Medication Disposal Program was among 12 nonprofit operations will be honored with a Excellus BlueCross BlueShield Fall 2017 Community Health Award.
The Health Initiative was cited for its work installing additional prescription medication dropboxes in St. Lawrence County pharmacies and hospitals, and community education on their use.
SLCHI and the other winners will receive up to $4,000 to help fund health and wellness programs in Excelus’s 14-county Utica/Rome/North Country region.
Through competitive applications, the company’s Community Health Awards support programs that have clear goals to improve the health status of the community, reduce the incidence of specific diseases, promote health education and enhancement of overall wellness.
