St. Lawrence County gains 1,000 jobs over same month last year.
St. Lawrence County’s October unemployment rate was 4.2 percent. That's down from 5.7 percent in october of 2017.
There were 1,800 people on unemployment last month and 2,500 receiving benefits in the same month last year. There were 42,200 people in the county who were employed in October, that's up from 41,200 October 2017, according to the state Department of Labor.
To the east in Franklin County, the rate dropped to 3.8 percent last month from 5.3 percent in October 2017. There were 800 people in the county receiving benefits in October and 1,100 the same month last year. Franklin County had 19,200 people employed last month and 18,800 in October 2017, DOL said.
To the west in Jefferson County, the unemployment rate was 4.1 percent last month, down from 5.6 percent in October 2017. The number of people there on the dole was 1,800, last month, with 2,500 the same month last year.
There were 43,100 people working in October up from 42,200 in the same month last year.
