High pressure will remain atop the North Country through this evening with light winds, seasonably mild temperatures and dry weather, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Highs today will each near 50 with clouds increasing as the day unfolds, the service says.
There is a 30 percent chance of showers, mainly before 2 a.m., with an overnight low around 42. Conditions will be breezy with winds of 16 to 21 miles per hour after midnight.
Gusts could reach as high as 37 mph.
Warmer weather continues Tuesday along with breezy conditions in St. Lawrence County before a cold front crosses the region with widespread light to moderate rainfall, NWS says.
Behind the front a gradual trend toward cooler weather is expected by late week with on and off chances of snow showers and flurries, mainly across the northern mountains and east of Lake Ontario.
The forecast through the weekend is as follows:
Tuesday
Showers, mainly after noon. High near 54. Breezy, with a south wind 18 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 37 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Tuesday Night
Showers, mainly before 2am. Low around 35. Breezy, with a southwest wind 17 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Wednesday
A chance of rain and snow showers before 1pm, then a chance of rain showers between 1pm and 4pm, then a chance of rain and snow showers after 4pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 37. Southwest wind 14 to 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
