The Northern New York Community Foundation is giving $30,000 to supply 37 food pantries in St. Lawrence, Jefferson, and Lewis counties, as well as the Watertown Salvation Army soup kitchen.
The grant will be administered by the Food Bank of Central New York, which distributes in the three counties.
The foundation said that by partnering with the Food Bank, it is able to leverage more food per dollar. “We know that this grant has the potential to reach many in our three-county service area. It is the one thing we do each year that has such broad and meaningful impact to those in need.” said foundation executive director Rande S. Richardson.
The pantries in St. Lawrence County supported by the Food Bank of Central New York are Neighborhood Centers in Canton, Colton/Pierrepont/Parishville, Gouverneur, Massena, Ogdensburg, Potsdam, Star Lake, the Norfolk Raymondville Pantry, the Salvation Army in Massena and Ogdensburg, St. Vincent De Paul of Massena, St. James Outreach and the Christian Life Fellowship Grace Pantry in Gouverneur, the Canton Church and Community Program, the Waddington Family Resource Center, the Richville Baptist Chapel, Tri Town Community Services in North Lawrence, Grasse River Pantry in Russell, Alms of Love Pantry in Madrid, Free Community Meal in Star Lake, the Hammond Pantry, and the Massena UMC Kitchen.
