CANTON -- St. Lawrence County’s service committee has agreed to fill vacant positions.
A resolution passed by the services committee Monday will allow the Department of Public Health to fill to a vacant health sanitarian position.
According to the resolution the position is “essential in performing investigation and inspection of the non-engineering aspects of environmental health control to the residents in St. Lawrence.”
The position was vacated Sept. 13.
The committee also agreed to fill a vacant caseworker position in the Department of Social Services.
According to the resolution the position “investigates allegations of child abuse and maltreatment in St. Lawrence County made to the State Central Register.”
The position was vacated due to a resignation Sept. 12.
Although the county implemented a non-essential hiring freeze in 2008, committee members agreed both positions were essential to ensure the departments run efficiently.
