CANTON – President of the St. Lawrence County Bar Association and state Supreme Court Law Clerk Cecily L. Morris will announce on Tuesday whether or not she plans to run for St. Lawrence County Family Court Judge.

Morris says she will announce her decision immediately after sitting Family Court Judge Barbara Potter announces whether she will run for another 10-year term on the Family Court bench or not. Potter plans a news conference at 3 p.m. at the county courthouse, 48 Court St.

Deputy County Attorney Andrew S. Moses has already said he plans to run for the Family Court seat.

Morris, a Massena native, has worked with Family Court since 1989. Prior to her tenure in the courts, Cecily was a partner in the Massena law firm of LaVigne, Morris and Peets, also serving as the town attorney for Massena, Brasher, Lawrence and Louisville. She and her husband Mark Morris have raised their four children in St. Lawrence County.
