The St. Lawrence County Emergency Services Department is reminding residents that open burning is banned until May 14.
Coordinator Joseph Gilbert said the annual ban will be lifted May 15 through March 14. Gilbert warned that criminal and civil penalties could be levied, with a minimum fine of $500 for a first a offense.
