The St. Lawrence County Deputies Association recently honored longtime WWNY-TV News reporter John Friot "for his years of service to the North Country and the law enforcement community," the group said.
The association presented Friot, known to some as “Mr. St. Lawrence County,” with a specialty license plate reading “MR SLC.”
Friot recently retired from Channel 7’s St. Lawrence County news bureau after a 32-year career to join State Senator Patty Ritchie’s staff as her communications director.
“The St. Lawrence County Deputies Association wanted to honor John for his years of service and contributions to the law enforcement community,” association President Sean O’Brien said.
"Our office has worked closely with John for more than three decades," said Sheriff Kevin Wells. "We wanted to show our appreciation to him for all that he has done for the people of St. Lawrence County."
