CANTON -- Cadets from the St. Lawrence County Corrections Academy were recently invited to SUNY Canton for a workout that left a few wondering where those aching muscles the next morning came from.
SUNY Men’s Head Soccer Coach Tim Penrod, along with the St. Lawrence County Corrections Academy Director Anthony Ormsby, teamed up to demonstrate the importance of health and fitness. The five-week academy held in the spring is host to a variety of corrections training that includes classroom instruction, defensive tactics, and physical fitness.
Every morning the cadets meet their academy director for PT prior to the beginning of their classroom instruction. For a change of pace Director Ormsby reached out to Coach Penrod and made arrangements for an afternoon of PT, soccer style. Coach Penrod worked with the cadets on agility, speed, and the importance of team building.
The cadets enjoyed the rigorous workout and the opportunity to get out of the classroom for the afternoon.
Coach Penrod and SUNY Canton were thanked for hosting the afternoon event.
