St. Lawrence County communities and non-profits are in line for up to $68,000 in grants from the Northern New York Community Foundation.
The Clifton-Fine Community Fund, a new fund to be administered by the foundation, will support projects in the Cranberry Lake, Star Lake and Wanakena areas. Contributions will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $50,000.
“By encouraging this type of active involvement by the individuals who know their regions best, it allows us a deeper level of engagement we have not had previously. It also empowers decision making and resource building at the hyper local, neighborhood level, allowing a more powerful resident voice,” said Rande S. Richardson, foundation executive director.
Other organizations benefiting from foundation grants are:
• Helping Hands of Potsdam, $5,000 for kitchen renovations.
• Local Living Venture, Canton, $5,000 for enhancements to educational programs.
• Arts Community of Clifton-Fine Economic Development Corporation, $5,000 in support of the 2014 arts series in Wanakena.
• St. Lawrence University, $2,950 to support the Johann Sebastian Bach Marathon and girls’ chorus.
