St. Lawrence County Arts Council raises 15 percent of $20,000 goal to fund programming

The St. Lawrence County Arts Council (SLC Arts) has met 15 percent of the $20,000 they plan to raise between November 2013 and March 2014.

A few of SLC Arts’ ongoing programs include: Artists’ Studio Tour, Remington Arts Festival, the Special Arts Program, and NYSCA Re-granting to artists and community groups in St. Lawrence, Jefferson, and Lewis Counties. Exciting new programs in 2013 included the Community Gallery Project and SLC Arts Festival for Young People. SLC Arts provides a wide-range of classes for children and adults each month, and hosts rotating gallery exhibits in the Town Hall in Potsdam.

These programs aim to improve the quality of life in the region, but have a considerable price tag.

SLC Arts invites community members to make a donation to keep these programs alive ‘Up North.’

Strategic planning and community development through the arts takes time and resources, and grants cover only part of operating costs; local financial support is essential to keeping the arts alive in our communities.

To contribute to SLC Arts visit www.slcartscouncil.org or mail contributions to: SLC Arts, PO Box 252, Potsdam NY 13676.
