The St. Lawrence Community Action Angels are offering area children a chance to help their communities.

The initiative, Kids Are Key, is a project that encourages kids to make a difference in their community by helping other children.

Participants will identify a need in their community, create a written plan to address the need, implement the project, and report on the results.

Each participant will be given $100 seed money, access to mentors, and other tools and resources necessary to accomplish their goals.

Upon completion, the results will be collected and studied to better understand how children perceive the world around them, how they see themselves within their communities, and how they turn compassion into action.

The program aims to make children more aware of the needs of others and help them discover the importance of volunteerism.

The goal is to boost self-confidence, and develop soft skills such as planning, communication, teamwork, and leadership.

Community Action Angels is now seeking participants for this project. Three participant units will be chosen:

One child, age 6-12 One family group with children One group made up of no more than five kids, ages 13-18.

Interested children are invited – and encouraged – to apply to become a participant. To do this, simply submit an answer to the following question:
