St. Lawrence University in Canton and Clarkson University in Potsdam have been chosen as two of “The Best 378 Colleges” for The Princeton Review’s 2014 edition.
The Princeton Review compiles the rankings based on data from surveys of 126,000 students at the 378 schools profiled in the book.
St. Lawrence and Clarkson, the two private universities in St. Lawrence County, have also been placed among the “Best Northeastern Colleges,” and SLU is among the nation’s “75 Top Best Value Private Colleges” in the Princeton Review survey.
Both schools offer “outstanding academics, which is the primary criteria (sic) for our choice of schools for the book,” said Robert Franek, author of “The Best 378 Colleges.”
Only about 15 percent of America’s 2,500 four-year colleges are profiled in the book.
St. Lawrence was praised for its “wide array of academic prospects” and said that its “small class sizes and a faculty who desire achievement play a critical role in the St. Lawrence experience.”
In July, Clarkson was also ranked in the top-10 New York state colleges and universities that provide the highest return on investment (ROI) by AffordableCollegesOnline.org.
